In the field of military technology, MOWAG produces high mobility, armoured wheeled vehicle systems - ranging from the light tactical vehicle EAGLE, the protected and unprotected tactical vehicle DURO to the heavier land-only and amphibious PIRANHA family with a gross vehicle weight of up to 25 t.
With the PIRANHA III 8x8 vehicles the tradition of the well-proven PIRANHA vehicle concept, commissioned in a considerable number of armies around the globe, is set forth. Many users of these vehicles render a valuable contribution to the numerous international peace missions of the United Nations.
As a further evolution of the highly successful PIRANHA Family of armoured wheeled vehicle, as adopted by various NATO ( including the U.S. Army) and Non-NATO countries, MOWAG developed as a private venture the PIRANHA IV 8x8 vehicle to complement any applications over and above the PIRANHA III capabilities. The heavier PIRANHA IV 8x8 vehicle, using the well proven technology of the PIRANHA III, offers, due to higher payload, higher levels of armour as well as mine protection.
